“REDHUB” Youth Hub

“RedHub” is located in the center of Krasnograd, in the Kharkiv region, in a park area in the same building as the library. Its hours are tailored to the needs of young people—from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The hub itself is a 70-square-meter room where laptops, a projector, books, periodicals, board games, and soft, frameless furniture are always freely available, along with unlimited hot tea and coffee. Over the years, the hub members themselves have developed internal rules for using the space and equipment, which all visitors must follow. For example, in addition to the prohibitions against drinking, smoking, and using profanity on the hub’s premises (and elsewhere), there is a rule that every registered visitor must be a library member and read at least one book per month. The hub also served as the birthplace of the “Volunteer League,” the first youth civic organization in the Krasnohrad district, which not only forms the backbone of the hub but has also raised a total of about half a million hryvnias for the treatment of seriously ill patients during its time in operation. Today, RedHub is arguably the only place where various companies, institutions, and organizations are eager to hold training sessions and seminars.
